Renate is a native of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. She is a graduate of Davis & Elkins College with Bachelor of Science degrees in Accounting & Finance and Health Care Administration. She started her public accounting career in 1988 at Trollinger & Company, the predecessor to Thompson, Hughes & Trollinger, P.L.L.C. After nine years with Trollinger & Company she accepted the position of Chief Financial Officer with the Washington Speakers Bureau. During her tenure at the Washington Speakers Bureau she implemented a new accounting system, and assisted in the sale of the company to Omnicom, a publicly traded company. After 3 years of corporate accounting Renate returned to public accounting to accept a partner position at Trollinger & Company.

Renate has gained a variety of experience and is particularly experienced with resolving IRS and state tax issues; preparation of business, non-profit and individual tax returns; and preparation of audits, reviews and compilations of business, non-profit, and retirement plan financial statements. She believes a CPA is a valuable business advisor to small business owners and can provide invaluable advice in business decisions concerning the purchase/sale of a business, succession planning and financing options.

Renate has a Virginia and District of Columbia CPA license and holds memberships in the VSCPA and the AICPA, as well as their Tax Practitioners divisions. She is also actively involved in her community, serving as the Treasurer of the North Springfield Swimming Club, Annandale High School PTSA, and the Metropolitan School of Arts, and the President of the Grovedale Office Park Owners’ Association.

Renate has a passion for running and has achieved the remarkable feat of finishing several marathons. She also values spending quality time with her family and taking her dogs for walks.
